Okanagan Regional Chemical Analysis Centre

ORCAC is set up to provide chemical analysis, consulting services, contract R&D, and specialized training. These services are available to both individuals within UBC and local industry.   A range of fee-for-service chemical analysis can be provided, including; chromatographic based analysis (GC, HPLC and IC), numerous Mass Spectrometric techniques (LC/MSMS, GC/MS, GC/MSMS, IRMS etc.) and spectroscopic techniques (UV, Fluorescence, FTIR, XRF and LIBS).  These techniques cover the complete range of techniques currently offered by commercial analytical service providers.  However, in most cases the instrumentation available at ORCAC is much more advanced than available locally.  Never-the-less, it is not in ORCAC’s mandate to compete with local industry and therefore, ORCAC will only provide analytical services to local industry if such services are not available regionally.

In addition to this, ORCAC is available to assist both UBC faculty and local industry with the preparation of research grants that require advanced chemical analysis.
